WorkCover Queensland insurance is a legal requirement for businesses that employ workers in Queensland. It provides financial protection for both employers, employees including contractors, volunteers by covering workplace injuries, medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and lost wages following a work-related incident. Having the correct WorkCover cover in place helps protect businesses from significant financial liability and supports injured workers in returning to work safely.

Failure to hold an active WorkCover policy can result in substantial penalties, fines and recovery actions. Employers may be required to repay unpaid premiums, additional penalties of up to 100% of the unpaid premium, and potentially the full cost of compensation claims plus a further 50% penalty if a worker is injured while uninsured. Businesses may also face prosecution and additional compliance penalties under Queensland workplace laws.
